Life in the Boonies so Far

So far as of today, I've been going to school for the pass 2-months at Carver Career Center in the Medical Transcription program. The instructor tells us we're being trained as editors in the medical field of health information management. Hopefully, I can use this advantage for my writing career. I would like being an editor. I hope to be working soon. I need the money for gas to get to school and buy food, vitamins and other needed commodities. Seems most of my money goes to gas and soymilk, one to fuel my car and one to fuel me and those neurons. My routine each day begins at 6:00 AM. I say a prayer and read some from my Bible before starting the day. You know it does help when you're going to take a test on that day. It's been proven. Praise the Lord! It's Fall and the trees are beginning to turn their vibrant colors here in West Virginia. My Uncle Johnny who use to come here in the Fall time from Florida just to see the foliage. I've also been involve in an art project and I'm writing a book and a family history. I guess you might say I have this secret hobbie of genealogy and history buffing (Well, guess that isn't a secret anymore). My most unique, colorful ancestor was Asher Crockett (no relation to Davy). He was in the Revolutionary War and was at the Battle of Cowpens (the roughest battle of the war, there were many loses) and at Yorktown. I'm listening to Charles Billingsley, George Owens, Vickie Yohe, Aaron Neville, Aaron Slaughter, Ralph Stanley and Jack Johnson in my current music list. Charles Billingsley has an awesome voice. I have his Charles Billingsley, "Secret Conversation"" CD on my Christmas list. I'm glad it's the weekend. I'll say goodbye to September. It's the 1st day of October tomorrow. Another month come and gone. It goes by so fast on the highway of the past. October is the time of Rosh Hasahanah and Yom Kippur. Many blessings for the New Year to my Jewish friends. That's all for now. Back to business!

The Passion at Paradise Island

The w:Guyandotte River as viewed downstream fr...Image via Wikipedia

A friend told me about this place called the Passion Trail at Paradise Island, West Virginia. Yes, it's an island near the Guyandotte River in Logan County (in Hatfield & McCoy country). Each year many people attend this attraction 4 times a year (Easter, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Christmas) to journey on the passion trail of the life of Jesus Christ. If you want something very different I suggest this wonderful experience. While you're there visit the Almost Heaven Gift Shop and 7th Heaven Snack Shop. To get directions to Paradise Island visit the website for more information. I love to camp out and they have accommodations for the happy camper. Check with the website for availability.

Let's not Jump to Anything

Well, I should have known that is was a bad rumor going around about the gas hike in the state of West Virginia. Although it may just happen. The oil mongols and the media are playing around with the issue and they have agendas. Can we beat the system, or be sitting ducks? It won't always last forever (the oil that is). I'll have my bicycle handy.
Speaking of bikes this guy take his sport to heart. The 9-11 USA Cyclist, Don Boehly plans on cross country starting on 9-11 and ends 9-11-2006 in New York City. So far to Date: Grand Total 11,505 Miles to Huntington, West Virginia in 29 States. Do I sense bicycle sales going up in the next month or so?

The Gas Miser is Back!

Ok, here it is folks! As of 12 noon EST in Charleston, WV gas went an all time HIGH. Can we consider ourselves lucky than some countries. The Netherlands are paying close to $7.00 ($6.48 per gallon). Or let's all move to Venezuela. There they only pay $0.12 a gallon. Better yet why don't we all go on strike and hitch up our team of horses that will show the big wigs we mean business. It's in poor taste that the big oil companies would do this in the event of a national disaster. Oh, well it's time we look at alternatives like the methane burning engine. Either way we're all in the big stink!

A Letter to Jesus Christ

Dear Jesus,
I've been wanting to write this letter to you in relation to everything that has happened in the past 10 years. The world has changed so much since I was born. It a wonder that I've turned out O.K. and then some. I think where most of the changes began after the time when Israel became a state on May 14, 1948. After 10 years, I was born. Not very long afterward in the year 1962 the Supreme Court ruled that prayer to be removed from public schools. This was a time before I ever started school. I didn't have a chance to speak on my rights to say prayer. I do remember saying the pledge of allegiance one last time in my second year of grade school. I was really uncertain about my life would take a turn in the later years. Don't let anyone tell you that America and live without the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob. Ever since the changing of the U.S. Constitution and the call for removing any references to God's law and not obeying it we've ever since been in trouble. Since the removal of prayer in school was the result of Columbine and many other schools of today face the pain and sorrow of not knowing God in their lives and their homes.
Since America had been a nation many enemies have seen to it to destroy our freedoms. The most important is our freedom in worshipping the one true God who gave the same Ten Commandments to Moses on Mt. Sinai. Todays laws and society were built on the foundation of this freedom. Those who penned the Declaration of Independence put their lives on the line so that we could live in freedom. America the same as Israel has always been attacked because we are a nation that loves our liberty and justice. Many nations have disagreed. We still have our priviledge to live in a free society. These attacks are becoming more fervent from the times of the Reagan Administration and the Iran Contra scandal in the 1980's and into the 1990's with bombings in New York City and Oklahoma City. We've suffered deceit in our government since the Bush Administration. Our sleeping giant hadn't awaken from our idolatrous slumber, until the tragedy of September 11, 2001. After a short time we went on as nothing happened. It is said that America is a 10-day nation. It seems that it's so. Then to cover up the internal attack on America Bush declared war on Iraq. A war that still goes on to this day without cause, which has killed thousands of more innocent people. We talk alot of moral values, but do we know where to begin? We've forgotten the most important thing which is mentioned in Colossians 3:1-25.
As for me as I have reached my life to this point I've grown closer to you and your Word. All the tragedies and catastrophes that have happened everywhere your Word that remains true has come to past. That no matter what-if they remove all physical evidence of your Word they can't take it from my heart. Even when the mountains fall and the seas rage on you're always there. You said you'd never leave us nor forsake us. How long will your mercy be upon America? Your patience is beyond understanding. It says in Psalms 33:12 - Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. I've had a dream that if every home in America lived for the LORD just imagine what a place it would be. Even in these times of trouble we face now it's not going to get any better. There is hope in you. It will have to be up to each of us to make that most important decision in our lives before this life is over for good. These things are to come to past and the end of this age will move on into eternity. I'm looking forward to the Day that you will return and create a New Heaven and a New Earth. And, there will be no more war, no more.

Your Child

Lookin' Out for a Hero

Did I tell ya I was a Snoopy fan? Mister Rogers was my mentor. You are missed. But, the one who will always be first and foremost is Jesus Christ, my LORD and Savior.

As of Today, So Far

So far I've been passing my exams for my M.I.S. class. Medical Terminology is a breeze. When I go to the computer to do my typing test I go to the internet instead. I'm a blog hound and love to write. There's a challenging place where you can brush up on your typing skills. It's called Hopefully I can boost my typing speed up before I leave the class. So far I'm at 52 gw.p.m. to the 60 gw.p.m., I need to have before I leave the class. I have to discipline myself more about priority stuff.
I've always been fascinated by the Shroud of Turin and have been trying to find some good photos. For some of you who don't know what it is, it's believed to be the burial shroud of Jesus Christ and according to scientists some heat source had imprint the image on the cloth. Possibly the divine power of the Almighty God to raise Jesus from the dead. Is this what Jesus looks like? It's just one of the greatest mysteries to exist. In other words He does exist. The Gospels and the Book of Acts tell of His Resurrection. Amazing!
I've been doing alot of the cooking lately at home. The reason is my mom is disabled, and I live with her, and take care of her do lot of the errands and chores around the house. She is diabetic and has rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. (Fiddle playing). I've taken an interest to healthy cooking, organic foods, collecting unusual recipes and gadgets. My favorite kitchen tools are a good stainless steel fry pan, deep sided all-purpose baking pan, a good cutting knife and microbe-free cutting board, microplane or hand grater, magic bullet, measuring cups and a spatula. I've been working on what is the best in weight loss. I found a secret to this by 5 simple steps:
1) get calcium (along with Vitamin D and magnesium is good)-best list: Collard greens, kale, butternut squash, calcium fortified soymilk, orange juice, white beans and dried figs.
2) use smaller plates (time to downsize those supersized meals)
3) get the mineral-Chromium (natural source in calf's liver, yuck! and wheat germ-good in fruit smoothies, see #5)
4) get out and play more-Exercise! (at least 20 minutes outdoors everyday. Sunshine is good for you as a source of Vitamin D, see #1. Remember to use sunscreen.)
5) Add more fruit (lift weight some bananas, citrus, apples and berries)
On a lighter note, have you heard of ugly dolls? Are they from another planet? Take a look here. They're rather cute in an odd sort of way.

Hurricane Katrina Risky Business

My concern after the U.S. government evacuated the survivors of Hurricane Katrina to other states, is that they didn't think of the consequences that will follow. There is risk of the spread of disease, particularly West Nile Virus and even chlorea. Maybe they should take more precaution as to quarantine. It's just a thought and a safe one.

If anyone would like to donate in helping out survivors of Hurricane Katrina go to the Red Cross , Salvation Army or Feed the Children. If you like to volunteer go to Volunteer Match for more information.

The Big Easy is Hit Hard

Nowadays it seems like it never ends with all the devastating storm. During the summer months we were hit with the news of the big tsunami tragedy in S. E. Asia. Now it's hit home in the states namely, Louisiana (New Orleans), Mississippi and Alabama. I'm sure in months time we will feel the re-precussion of all this. These people are in my prayers. I got relatives who live in Mississippi. WE here at home hope to hear from them soon. I think God is trying to tell us something. Jesus said that before His return for His church he warned of things that would happen on the earth. He mentioned it in the Olivet Discourse in Matthew 24 about the birth pangs which all of this would be more frequent and with more intensity. There will be also signs in the Heavens recorded in Luke 21: 25-26. But don't give up hope. Just look up your redemption draws near.
